Food Bank (Aug 8)
At 6 p.m. sharp a group of nine eager volunteers arrived at the Calgary Food Bank ready to try something new. Once the initial cloud of confusion passed over, the group got into the swing of their 'grocery shopping'. Round and round the group went, successfully managing to fill almost all of the much needed hampers. The group did so well that the supervisor at the Food Bank let us go early (well, we think it's because we did so well, maybe she just wanted to see us go....:>). After all that shopping and staring at packages of food, it was off to the Sante Fe Grill to relax on the patio after a job well done.
The group enjoyed the tales of travel shared by a few members of the team
while we nibbled on some tasty meals. Various topics were shared including
101 ways to keep yourself entertained while on the phone (we might have to
get that one published for the group!)
It seemed a good time was had by everyone during an evening of fun, food and
oh yeah, helping out a worthy cause.
