Bike/Blade/Blues (Sept 1)
BIKE/BLADE
A mix of bikers and bladers gathered at Lindsay Park for an urban adventure on Calgary's
pathways. Since the weather was sunny, we opted to go north and west along the pathways,
in order to have lunch on the patio at the Lazy Loaf and Kettle in Parkdale. So with the "bladers"
leading the way, we headed up the Elbow, and then west along the Bow river. Crossing over the Bow at Edworthy Park, we proceeded to the Lazy Loaf
and Kettle for a "home baked" lunch on their patio. (thanks to Chantel for the tow.) The patio time was so enjoyable, the group decided
to head back to Eau Claire and the patio at Brewster's for a little liquid refreshment. All
in all an enjoyable day.
BLUES
About a dozen people braved what some consider the seedy side of Calgary's
downtown to enjoy music and dancing of Vancouver based blues band "Twister".
We had a good time, sharing laughs, appetizers, dancing and marveling at the
diversity in the clientele attracted by this famous Calgary landmark. If you've
never been there, it is something you may want experience as part of a Calgary
tour. Wine comes in a water glass, as the beverage of choice is beer, so they
don't put a lot of effort into anything else. In fact the only thing on tap
is Warthog - which makes the selection process simple for those of us indecisive
types.
